COPD reversed according to recent test
Hello,
I had my last pulmonary function test in July and my number was 84. The doctor said that from 80+ it’s normal. It used to be 66. But I still have shortness of breath if I speed my walking a little, if I exert myself. Etc. He said to keep exercising and would check me in six months.
I have heard that COPD is irreversible, can you tell me something about this? Have you experienced still having shortness of breath despite the numbers, improving? If so, can you give me some advice?
Thank you

I was told it is progressive.
You might want to have your heart function checked. I just discovered I have Pulmatory hypertension which comes from the heart not the lungs but it feels like the lungs especially if exerting energy. Be your own advocate go to a cardiologist and make them do testing. My pulmonologist did not catch this.
What you just shared seems to be evidence of reversal.? Right?
I know for a fact that exercise does help!
Thank you so much! I’m waiting for the cardiologist results. I’m also going to ask specifically about Pulmonary hypertension.
Keèp up the walking….exercise is really good. My husband has stage four COPD and emphysema… It was manageable while he was at the gym every day… He has not been back since October… there is definitely a difference since he has been unable to go to the gym.
I suggest, if you don't mind, you check that on the Mayo Clinic page.
mayoclinic.org . That and the Cleveland Clinic are my go to.
I have never heard of 80% is doable for any length of time but hey I am not a Dr.
I hope all will straighten out for you.
Hugs from Canada.
PS exercise exercise exercise is the trick I do seated exercises watching a video on YouTube. The one I use is Exercise with Sharon. It is an hour. I don't do standing as I wobble LOL so I do the seated twice.
All the best to you.
I want to start a walking program , I need to get moving ! I hope I have the breath for it ! I take spiriva every morning so hopefully it will give me what I need to keep it up .
Please tell us it was supposed success and you feel better now. Hiroko
Exercise is truly important with this disease…
That’s what it seems like, and I sure pray for that miracle.
But I’m confused because I still have the symptoms and the pulmonologist was not very clear.
I’m going to follow the advice I have received and also look for another pulmonologist for at least a second opinion.
