I see a lot in different place where is says acid reflux is common in COPD, What are you doing if it is part of your COPD? How bad does it effect you?

Acid reflux can be devastating. My first experience was shocking to me . I awoke from sleep with my mouth , nose , and throat, full of acids and liquid from my stomach. I ran for the bathroom . Spitting and blowing my nose , gargling and coughing to get it out of my throat. I was “cleaning up” for nearly an hour . It is acidic and nasty . All I could think is , I have to keep/ get this out / up and away from my airway . I now take Famotidine - I take 20 mgs morning and night . I also watch my diet , some spices and foods can get it stirred up . There are other drugs that can cause these problems too . Hope this gives you some idea . Blessed Be all of you , and Cap’n Jack too . Crystalena .

Mine started right when i found out i had Copd. I also have GERD. I had to be put under to do scope procedure after my hysterectomy bc i had stomach issues. I am still having stomach issues but not as bad as my COPD. I try to stay away from high fats foods bc i feel it makes my symptoms worse.

@snoots Hi, I had acid reflux . I was prescribed famotidine . It worked very well . I had a dry skin problem . To try to see which drug caused the skin problem I was switched to omeprizole . I took it for a few months. The doctors kept increasing the dose. I stopped it and returned to taking Famotidine . I take 20 mg in the morning and 40 mg at night . It is an effective Pepsis and works great for me. No side effects of note.

I hope you have a prescription to take care of the reflux . If the contents of the stomach acid are inhaled it is going to be serious .
The Famotidine I use stops reflux for me . That is very important .
