Anyone use an air purifier at home, living with COPD?

It's possible to spend a small fortune on filters.

I am not fully educated on it but I constantly see in one of my support groups not to buy an ionized whole house filter. I looked up April Aire and they have one model that is ionized. The others are not. I have COPD and have an IqAir hepa filter in my bedroom which is great but it is big & bulky. The filters aren’t changed often but they are expensive.

Yes, you will benefit from a good air purifier with HEPA filters and Charcoal pre-filter such as Winix. AVOID Ozone at all costs, it is like sunburn to your lungs. Damp mop hard floors weekly to keep dust down. God Bless.

I always had a couple of them (room size) at my office, if for no other reason than to placate my staff. My daughter (Ms. Practical since childhood) thought I should have one at home, so she bought me a YIOU, model P1802, which sits in my living room, pretty much midway in my house traffic pattern. As a reminder to maintain it, she also has arranged for delivery of a new HEPA filter every month. It's pretty sensitive - shows a little green light when everything is OK, but should I fry some bacon, for instance, the light turns red until the offending particulate matter is dealt with. Looking at the swapped-out filter every month shows me that it's really working!
Also, for sure, change the filter on your central a/c monthly!

I don’t intend to be an advertisement but have a small Levoit 300 in every room. HEPA. Easy to change different filters for smoke, smells, pets, etc.. Adjustable noise and speed. Other brands may be just as good. A little pricey but lungs and clean air outweigh that. I agree keep your house ducts and HVAC filters clean. Why not?

I have two small air purifiers. One for each level, and a small one in my bedroom. Does it help, I truly cannot answer that. Since I don’t open windows for fresh air, I’m hoping they work.
I live in Utah, and the air quality is not the best.

We h as we two rabbit air air purifiers in our home. They work ok. The filters are expensive & should be replaced regularly, but seem to catch quite a bit.
