Stage 4... I was taken off lisinporil about 8 months ago by my nep. I didn’t see much improvements in my labs after stopping, but, apparently it isn’t a good drug for kidneys.. My last lab (10/18)Crea 1.85, GFR 26.87. Improved a little after starting renal diet (9/18 Crea 1.96, GFR 25)...I go back 12/26 so I’m praying my diet changes will at least hold me at this level....my NA, K, P, Glucose & calcium were all within boundaries. Most were right in middle...dang Creatinine and GFR my issues. My GP had to increase my beta blocker because my BP just wouldn’t go down. I’m still “feeling” problems with my heart so, we will adddress when I see him. I’m concerned I’ll hv a darn heart attach before my kidneys fail...after reading, I know that’s like a 90% chance. Good luck and let’s keep posting....thank you!

@sissieann Hello.I've had CKD for 8 years, 4 years on Hemodialysis then a kidney transplant 4 years ago. At present I too am at stage 4, Crea 2.67 eGFR 20. So I'm not a good advertisement for Ramipril, it being one of the 3 meds I take for BP but Ramipril is supposed to be safer than lisinporil. My BP is good though.

Update: I had my appoint. today - neph.not concerned - he said probably because of my HBP I would have some scarring in the kidneys and since my creatinine levels have been consistent over the past four or five years he thinks monitoring every six months is the way to go. He did do more labs today so we will wait to see what they say before I settle into the monitoring stage.

@rans sounds like good news. . . Hope you stay stable, sending you positive vibes.

Here's my update on the "labs"; Everything looked good on the numbers except for one reading, potassium. In trying to eat healthier I started eating dried fruit when I was grazing, not good, high potassium, pushed my pot. level to 4.5, 4.0 is high end of normal. My neph would like to see me go back on Lisinopril but wants me to get the potassium down in the normal range first. Works better. creatinine is back to 1.5 so things are going in the right direction. Doing a lot of research and trying some things that are safe and make sense. I won't share them though until I'm sure they had a positive outcome for me.

That’s great news! I wish I had those numbers. My Creatinine has been hovering around 2.9-3.0 and potassium at 4.9:(. I’m at Stage 4 with GFR hovering between 20-24.

My creatinine was at 2.8 at one time 3 years ago but I was going through a "triple - bypass" at the time. I've been at least 1.5 for the past four years. Doing the math formula my GFR is around 42. My Neph. says 1.5 is normal for me??? He may be considering my age at 77. Like I said I'm going to spend a lot of time doing my own research trying different things watching out for "snake oil". Diet and natural stuff.

@rans My creatinine was slightly above range today -- I have lab work monthly. It almost always is. I had no idea that potassium and creatinine are connected. My potassium is within range.
