Colonoscopy and Afib after PFA
I was recently diagnosed with IMO after months of Diltaizem and constipation. I just started Rifaxamen and Neomycin, which end the day before my colonoscopy prep. My cardiologist cleared me for the procedure and I had an ablation in Jan. I was just nervous about the prep and it causing electrolyte shifts and afib? I haven’t been in afib since before my ablation and wanted to see if anyone had similar experience?

Yes, that was my experience after colonoscopy in Dec.2023 - and doc said it was the electrolyte shift - my first PVI was done in Jan.2022, so ~2 years in NSR.
I am not a doctor or medical person, just an A-Fib patient like others here. My PCP, EP, Cardiologist and the Gastro doctor told me that there is too much of a chance that the colonoscopy prep could put me in to A-Fib and I should do either the new Shield blood test or Cologuard and if something suspicious or abnormal shows then we'll discuss prep for the colonoscopy. I had a PFA on Nov 25th, 2025. Hope this helps some.
