I was prescribed Lorazepam 6mg every night for 15+ years, for Restless Leg Syndrome. UCSF San Francisco told me to stop taking it, it's is a bad drug. I said I would cut back slowly. Of course no one told me to have to taper very slowly because I had been on it for so long. A few weeks later I decided to just stop, I told my Dr and that night I did not have any. Four days later I was not doing very well, my Dr asked if I wanted any. I was so upset by him asking because the past few days were bad, this is a very bad medicine, of course I said no. Two days later, I had a psychotic episode. Didn't know my name, could not even remember my friend's phone number to call for help. I will make this short, finally prescribed Clonazepam to taper. Unfortunately they game me the wrong dose of Clonazepam, they gave me .50mg, it should have been 3mg. For one year I kept saying I am still going thru withdrawal, their response, no you are not. I won't go on, just to let you know, I finally was off all medication took one year. You will get better, it would help if there is someone there who knows how to help you do this. Read, research, don't stop, keep asking questions about why you feel so bad.

Clonidine is used to help lower blood pressure when having withdrawal from certain medications. I would definitely use it if you need it.
