Aerobika/nebulizer cleaning question

Posted by terryb1 @128128terry11t, Sep 2, 2017

I should be doing my aerobika/nebulizer twice a day but have only been doing it once. If I do it twice, I have a question: do you clean/rinse the aerobika and nebulizer after the first treatment of the day or do you simply rinse under regular warm water after the first treatment and do the cleaning/rinsing after the second or final treatment of the day? Must you rinse with distilled water? I guess another question is how long the bacteria live if not in water/soil but simply on the equipment that we use. We all have so many questions. Thanks. Terry

Monaghan will answer questions about cleaning any of their pulmonary products, like AeroEclipse, Aerobika, and Spacer/chamber. Their customer service number is 800-833-9653.
Since I use the AeroEclipse for nebulized 7% saline solution, before soaking it in warm soapy water after each use, I first and always rinse it in clear tap water, just to remove any salt. I am hoping this extends the life of the AeroEclipse and will prevent any salt build up in it.
I also switch out 3 of these devices, using a different one each time in hopes that this too will extend the life of the AeroEclipse.
As there is only so much one can do in caring for their lungs (I also use the SmartVest) without adding pressure to the daily routine, I use tap water for cleaning, not distilled water, as this is easiest for me. I'm sure Monaghan would answer any questions about tap water vs distilled water.
