Chronic salty taste

Posted by bel59 @bel59, May 31, 2024

Hello
Has or is anyone experiencing intense & chronic salty taste in the mouth? If so have you gained any relief or insight from any type of practitioner. I am a long term sufferer and it is a very mentally debilitating condition.
Thx Bel

@celia16 Hey, what vitamin had you been deficient for? Good nutrition and staying hydrated is the key of course. But sometimes after all that, you don’t get any answers to your problems. That’s when you get frustrated, specially when you’re brushed off by the doctor. That said 😄 I have some autoimmune problems, so next time I visit my rheumatologist I’ll ask her about this. Thanks.

@munira12, neurologist diagnosed me with B12 deficiency. He thought I had been sufficiently low to cause my symptoms. I also had tingling, numbness, fasciculations, hair loss, loss of smell, internal tremors, etc. So….idk, was it all related to my post covid syndrome? Idk. My first neurologist said not neuropathy, as has several orthos, but……I’m not sure. Trying to stay healthy and follow up with spine scan sometime soon. Keeping an open mind.

Yes, it definitely is a mentally debilitating condition. I have it at least for 4/5 years. Getting more intense as time passes. No doctor could tell me what it is. Anyway I found out that staying hydrated is crucial. And another thing is Ricola sugar free cough drops. They’re a life saver.
Wish you good luck 👍

@munira12, mine is a chronic and often overwhelming 'salty' taste. I am concerned that, if I try them, the Ricola cough drops may be too acidic making them impossible to keep in my mouth. What do you think?

@bel59 My salty taste is also chronic and it’s almost always there. Lately it has become so very intense that it’s unbearable. My only solution is that cough drop. I have some issues with acid reflux but it’s not for the drops. It’s there for sometime. Those drops don’t bother. My suggestion is no harm trying. Praying for you.
