Chronic cough
I'm a 75 yr old woman in very good health except for some allergies, asthma and a chronic cough that just diminishes my quality of life. During these periods when I get very little relief from my cough, I dont want to socialize with friends, kayak, go to the theater, out to dinner, etc because of the coughing that interrupts these moments. I find this persistent cough to be embarrassing and Im sure annoying to others. Ive been treated for this but it never completely goes away. Can anyone with a similar issue offer any advice beyond, "see a doctor"...done that.

At times I have the coughing with my COPD. I happens when my mouth and throat gets a bit dry. And I have been to the doctor with not much success.
What helps me I keep cough drops with me. I pop 1 at a time into my mouth. Might do 4 or 5. I like the Luden's menthol and honey. I guess you can use any flavor you like.
There are several varieties of cough . . It is definitely something to see a pulmonologist about . All of us here have ideas , but we aren’t very “up” on treatments for others . As we all have different symptoms and causes. I know , you already saw a Doctor . But we here don’t have your medical information . Be Well , Crystalina
I have also had the same issue, a constant annoying tickling in my throat and coughing, nothing ever helped and I’m sure you have tried to deal with it. If the doctor you saw couldn’t find any concerning issues then it’s probably just an allergy to something around your environment that’s causing it, perhaps another opinion or seeing a specialist if you haven’t already done so, last but not least, have you looked into a possibility that it’s digestive related, sometimes I get a cough and think it’s my chest but it turned out to be gerds, the coughing is very similar, I hope you get some answers soon,
Thank you for your response. I have recently read about the possibility of acid reflux causing coughing. I have had issues with this in the past so I just started taking omeprazole from a previous prescription for the last few days and it seems to be helping, not eliminating my cough but helping. I have a doc appointment soon and will bring this to his attention and discuss this possibility. Thanks, again, for your follow-up.
I have very severe emphysema. Two things I've found to really help with my cough:
Ricola throat lozenges (sugar free)
Cordyceps mushroom liquid diet supplement
I keep a pocket or my purse filled with lozenges so they're always available and I take 3 droppers full of the cordyceps tincture every morning. Honestly, I have pretty much control of my chronic cough.
