Check in--cheerleaders wanted
I am trying to force myself to exercise because I need it for my osteoporosis and I am finding myself getting perceptibly weaker as I age. I'm not at all sedentary; I probably walk 2-3 miles per day just getting around and do lots of household stuff as guardian of a 6 year old and 16 year old, and I'm an elementary school teacher during the year on my feet all day. While that was fine when I was younger, my body is telling me that I need to be more systematic now. I want to keep being able to do the things I love, and exercise is clearly one of the ways to do that, but I hate it.
I want to start this thread as a place to check in with the things we find hard--exercise, nutrition, human relations, whatever--and a place to cheer each other on.

Just hearing that you're doing yours makes me feel like I am at the gym with a friend and we are rooting for each other. Thanks.
@janism Feeling proud of yourself is good! Consistency is key so 6 days of exercise is productive.
I just had my morning coffee, will have a small breakfast and then I’m off to the gym to strength train. I ache here and there but it’s not usually from exercise. It’s osteoarthritis and stretching and exercise helps with that.

3 ReactionsNike had an advertisement slogan years ago; Exercise is a reward not a punishment. That has resonated with me my whole adult life. I tend to do different group exercise classes as it provides community also. Good luck!

How is it going? I missed two days (!) and I'm going to bed now with the resolution that I'm not going to let that stop me from starting again tomorrow morning.
Strength of will needed!

Get back on that exercise horse and ride on. No self recriminations. No self flagellation.

1 Reaction@janism That’s exactly what I tell myself when I did not do the exercise things I set out to do. I will do it tomorrow as long as there is another tomorrow.
