Cevimaline and lung issues

Posted by ktgirl @ktgirl, Jun 15, 2023

I have Sjögren's and have very dry eyes and mouth. My eye doctor wanted me to try cevilamine but I did notice there is a warning about using it if you have breathing problems. Has anyone used this drug while having interstitial lung disease? I have difficulty breathing since having pneumonia along with the ILD.
Thanks

I’ve been taking Evoxac for about 15 yrs for dry mouth caused by sjogrens. I do not have any lung disease. I have never noticed any problems breathing while taking this medicine.

Thanks. That's good to hear. My pulmonologist and respiratory therapist are suggesting starting with a low dose and see how it goes. Hopefully it will help!
Thanks again!

I have finally started the cevimeline. I took one this morning about 8:00 am. I didn't notice anything until about 7:00 pm when I suddenly felt extremely tired. The pharmacist told me that it can cause drowsiness. I'm wondering if you had this problem and if so did it stop after you used it for a while? Thanks
