Cervical Posterior fusion from C-3 thru C-7. Had this?
Has anyone had the surgery? I would like to know what they take to help with constant neck pain during normal activities?

@orloffjr
I'm two + years to respond but I had C3-C7 fusion 8 months ago and live with constant pain and radiopathy.
Have you found relief?
@etownbill I'd love to know how you are doing. I had posterior C3-C4 laminectomy in March 25 that did nothing to relieve arm pain or sloppy gait. Then had posterior decompression and fusion
of C3-C7 in August of '25. Now, about 8 or 9 months later I'm in constant neck and back pain with hand/arm tingling and burning and sloppy gait. Lots of ibuprophen and oxycodone and life is a challenge.

1 Reaction@gid So sorry to hear about your continued pain and continuing issues. I am slightly better with some continuing pain numbness and tingling. I haven't regained all of my use of my right arm and hand that I lost suddenly prior to my last surgery. I haven't regained any strength in my right arm and hand either, I can barely pick up a half gallon of milk and I can't pick up a gallon at all. I just had another set of trigger point injections last week that helped with the pain I was having on the sides of my neck going into my head. The doctor said it was like trying to put a needle through leather when injecting me.
@etownbill seeing a pain specialist tomorrow never had trigger point injection before will ask him about them.

1 Reaction@etownbill I would like to know where you had the injections as I would like to has some.
Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I had this done in 2001 posterior and two years later had anterior surgery and all discs removed and cages and a titanium rod inserted. After recovery from anterior surgery the pain was greatly reduced.
Today I am pretty good when I wake up, but pain in hands and swelling are now the target. I am careful about my limits. I have had seven joint replacements neck, knees, hips, lower spine and left shoulder. I have a morphine pump and started on my third pump in March, 2026. I've been told in one year it's pretty clear that how you find yourself -that is the final result. Started on morphine pump in 2012, at that time I became inoperable. You can talk to your surgeon about pain clinic. Hope you find something that brings you relief. Hang in there. I'm 79 and am open to how the help can sometime be a small thing. I use Voltaren Gel Rx for inflamation and pain.

1 ReactionDo you need prescription for the Voltaren Gel ?
@celtic, hello I've had injections at multiple offices. I currently go to OIP in Hershey/Harrisburg Pa. But I have had them at OAL also in Lebanon Pa. But by far my favorite Dr is Dr David Itskevich @ Impact Sports And Spine, impactsands.com in MD. If you can't get there almost all pain management clinics offer trigger point injections, do yourself a favor and call around see if you can find one that uses ultrasound or any type of imaging for these injections 💯 better results and much longer lasting relief 💯 ! Most say its unnecessary but there's no comparison! Dr Itskevich uses ultrasound and he is the best at helping me 💯 !

1 Reaction@celtic No, you can buy it OTC, but the Rx is stronger I think. Read the directions; only 2 places at a time, takes 2 weeks to build up, use the measurement strip inside box. Hope it helps.
