Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I had this done in 2001 posterior and two years later had anterior surgery and all discs removed and cages and a titanium rod inserted. After recovery from anterior surgery the pain was greatly reduced.
Today I am pretty good when I wake up, but pain in hands and swelling are now the target. I am careful about my limits. I have had seven joint replacements neck, knees, hips, lower spine and left shoulder. I have a morphine pump and started on my third pump in March, 2026. I've been told in one year it's pretty clear that how you find yourself -that is the final result. Started on morphine pump in 2012, at that time I became inoperable. You can talk to your surgeon about pain clinic. Hope you find something that brings you relief. Hang in there. I'm 79 and am open to how the help can sometime be a small thing. I use Voltaren Gel Rx for inflamation and pain.

@gid So sorry to hear about your continued pain and continuing issues. I am slightly better with some continuing pain numbness and tingling. I haven't regained all of my use of my right arm and hand that I lost suddenly prior to my last surgery. I haven't regained any strength in my right arm and hand either, I can barely pick up a half gallon of milk and I can't pick up a gallon at all. I just had another set of trigger point injections last week that helped with the pain I was having on the sides of my neck going into my head. The doctor said it was like trying to put a needle through leather when injecting me.
