Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

I have 2 rare illness and my doctors could not help me. I started taking cbd and am really feeling better. I told my doctors what I was doing and he said keep using cbd. I told him in South Dakota it is illegal and he said so is speeding. My doctor knows all about cbd.😊😊

While hemp-derived CBD is legal in all 50 states, 'marijuana'-derived CBD is not legal federally. ... It classifies “marijuana” as any plant of the cannabis family that contains greater than 0.3% THC. Glad your doctor has a sense of humor and is tolerant.

Personally I use Sunsoil, was Green Mountain, 600 mg. It has a light peppermint taste. I hold .25 ml of tincture under my tongue for approximately 10 minutes. The CBD is absorbed sublingualy. I dose twice a day. Your dose may be lower or higher. Too much won't work just like too little won't either. A bottle costs about $32.00 delivered in 3 to 4 days. Have heard good things about Blue Bird Botanicals, Charlottes Web, Lazarus also. Lazarus has a discount program for veterans or low income qualified customers. Hope this helps.

Do the research many companies are not putting in the ingredients they say they are. It is important to use a company that has 3rd party testing and can provide you with a chromotopy testing. Many companies are using carrier oils like almond oil so you are not getting the full spectrum . You also should check how the oil is extracted where it is grown. Many Euroeaoen countries are bringing in cbd oil and not the standards like the US. Many extractions use harsh chemicals in their process. CO 2 extraction is free of harsh chemicals. I would never look at prices when it comes to cbd oil. You get what you pay for. Buyer be aware.i hope this helps this industry is so new you have to be careful. I would also look for a company that works in an FDA approved facility. CBD is not FDA regulated but there are FDA approved facilities for processing a CBD oil.

Cbd derived from hemp is not legal in all 50 states. It is federally approved through the 2018 farm bill but each state can do what they want. The State of SD law has cbd on the controlled substance list. The 2019 SD legislation held an emergency meeting and so far both house and senate approved to take it off the list. Our governor wants to table everything until next year so who knows what will happen in South Dakota. It is illegal in Nebraska, I think North Dakota, and maybe Iowa.

@fairoaks- Good morning. Why do you hold the tincture under your tongue for 10 minutes? How can you not swallow for that long? I've been told anywhere from 30 seconds to 90. Do you hold your tongue up or is you tongue down?

REPLY

Did some research and there was a study done that said 5 to 15 minutes gave the best absorbency rate. CBD isn't cheap and I wanted the maximum amount from the product. Think it makes sense to leave it longer. I keep my tongue down, it takes a little practice but now I can even swallow without moving my tongue. It seems funny but it works. I'm very lucky a small dose is effective for me. I have read for pain relief a much higher dose is needed.

Regarding administration of CBD under the tongue/sublingually- I have heard different opinions on this . Some say that it will provide for faster absorption similar when someone takes Nitroglycerin under the tongue. Others have said it doesn't matter. I tell my son with autism to hold it for 10 seconds. I do not see any downside to holding it under the tongue Regarding cost of CBD, some CBD dispensaries have a program for low income, need to ask

@stephaniemarie - how has CBD changed your son's epilepsy?

no i havent beut i would discuss with your medical professionals which ones are contraindiactive and would interfere with CBD OIL or would the Cbd interfere with the medication

Hopefully your Dr will discuss CBD with you. Some health care providers refuse since it can be a grey area legally. I am fortunate that my Dr agreed that it may be something to try since I wanted to avoid Wellbutrin. We tried 3 SSRIs and they made me extremely ill.
