CBD Oil

Posted by suemer @suemer, Sep 11, 2018

Has anyone tried this for pain? My daughter-in-law is waiting for steroid injections as she has 2 buldging disks in her back and a torn ligament. Her doctors prescribed Tylenol and Tylenol 3. Did not work. CBD Oil has made a difference. She swears by it! Anyone else tried it?

@marthaellen

Have used kratom, bone on bone hip, it works, lifts mood enough to complete chores, better than Tylenol for pain, CBD did not help me so perhaps each person responds differently, I have No trust in FDA, wish I knew what vendors to trust for Kratom

Sorry, forgot to say in my post about Kratom, when I first began taking the powder, and had no idea how much to take, I did double the amount, after about 15 minutes of waiting for effect, and Vomited it all up, which is the advice I was given in warning, for taking "too much". What that says to me is there is mechanism for avoiding "overdose", natural protection.

@marthaellen: Yes indeed. I would caution ANYONE to do a LOT of research before you use it. Again many of the Facebook groups have a LOT of people who are willing to provide assistance, as will many vendors. Always better to start with 1 gram or 2, and move up, rather than to start large. It tastes so bad, I can't imagine vomiting it….UGH

Re: Kratom taste. Another reason for ignoring all the negative hype, it does taste pretty bad, like kelp powder, no one takes it without some preparation, and trepidation, not a "kid friendly" item, but No denying many people have been helped, some even clarifying further, that Kratom saved their lives. thanks Martha

@marthaellen: Yes, indeed, it saved mine. There were many days when I not only had the suicide thought but the plan.

The plan was to lay on a RR track. I am small, thin, and would not even cause a blip as the train ended my life, nor would passengers be hurt, so, yes, it saved my life, but not without a lot of research, work, and effort.

I now workout with SOME pain, can manage my house, my yard care, laundry, shopping, etc., use pain patches frequently, do a lot of stretching, etc. but can live a full and fairly happy life. Some days are worse than others, but never a day anymore where I want to die.

It is not for kids. Not enough studies, nor will there be since it benefits no pharmaceutical company or lobby other than the AKA which is funded by people like me who give small donations. I am almost 69, so I am willing to take some risk of "long term effects" to have splendid days and not be a burden to my children.

I am reposting my response in part here – "I have not found that CBD oil is much help at all, at least in a dosage that I can afford – which is the real problem with it as a real help to anyone in my view." To elaborate, for chronic pain that I know, 5 mg. hardly touches it, which is expensive enough. Buying locally from a shop will cost you nearly $100 or more for a more powerful CBD dose. Yes, I can buy it online for less, but the cost is still prohibitive – not even considering that CBD is still not legal in some states for some. A solution needs to be effective and affordable.

I noticed that earlier this year, the news media had a good time running kratom down, alongside the feds desire to squelch anyone's desire for it. When suppliers were having issues with safety earlier this year, we had a "public health crisis". Personally, I'm uncertain whether it is effective and safe for chronic pain or not. I knew nothing about kratom until the "public health crisis".

The price for CBD is ridiculous! It would be like selling distilled corn oil or soybean oil for these prices. It's just a food and industrial crop!!! I am hoping with congress passing a law allowing the legalization of growing hemp earlier this year the price will drop after the next growing season. I can buy hemp grown in other countries for nutrition, for example a hemp protein and fiber powder sold at Walmart and also hulled hemp seeds and these products are reasonably priced. My hemp fiber powder is the same price as psyllium (be prepared to taste kelp when swallowing) and the hemp has more good nutritional benefits. These products are grown in Canada. Like you, can't say CBD oil has helped with pain, but I am primarily taking it to reduce inflammation which causes eczema. Presently all 4 forms of my eczema are in remission. Is this just a coincidence, probably as eczema comes and goes, yet ……………. Also like you because of price may be taking less than needed for pain relief. I have learned to live with pain because of pain meds raising my blood pressure, even with bp medication. I have been without my Aleve for 9 months now, it's just my new reality.

There is much misinformation and confusion out there about there about CBD. For example, CBD oil is not simply hemp oil. People selling it don't always care about what you don't know, just that you buy what they are selling. Don't believe anything anyone sends you in the mail (a solicitation) . I have an aunt that has spent a small fortune based on what health hucksters have advertised – no more of that!

hello, I did try it, from 3 different suppliers, as did my son, for joint pain, not much difference, tylenol worked better for me, which is not much, but the cost was not sustainable, $50-70 was outrageous, I thought, so I am not a proponent. MARTHA

Watch for internet specials. Cannabadiol Life is a good place to start. Just bought 1500mg gummies (60 x25mg) for $50.

Yes, I use daily for my knee after having a total knee replacement. It certainly helps for sure. I highly recommend, use the highest dose you can find.

Does it help with back and neck pain to get off the pain meds

@gardeningjunkie

My sister had knee surgery and after using CBD oil for a month she is not experiencing any improvement. What strength do you use and what is your dose? I find taking more than 4-5 drops daily of the 1000 mg isolate makes me too mellow and I'm not as productive. I've never used a tranquilizer, perhaps that is the effect it has on me. I now take mainly at night to minimize this and must admit I sleep deeper.

@gardeningjunkie did you find something for you sister? I've been studying the different CBD oils and have discovered that if it's not water soluble, you will only absorb an average of 3 to 6%. I've been taking Zilis UltraCell that has been tested by the Mayo Clinic and it has an absorption rate average of 85 to 94%. It's also full spectrum which makes all the difference. Maybe that's what she needs? If you're interested, let me know. I ended up joining when I felt how much it was helping me and it has changed my world. My anxiety is completely gone and so is the pain!!

REPLY

I'll keep that brand in mind you have provided useful information Right now using up a bottle of isolate and I agree that the full spectrum is more effective and even though it just has trace amounts of THC I do feel "brighter" and "happier" after I use it. Not at all a drug high like with MJ. With the isolate no mood change, yet necessary if one is subject for drug testing. I will go back to the full spectrum. I am hoping that with the legalization of hemp growing in the US in 2018 hemp will become an abundant crop and the prices will drop.I see Zillis is for sale on the internet, yet confused since you mentioned joining. Is that for a better price? I noted the online prices were comparable to what I have paid for other products which are oil based.
