Cavitary MAC Resolved Completely on CT Scan?

Posted by bellsina71 @bellsina71, Sep 26, 2023

Hello everyone! I haven't been posting for a while because I've been so busy since I had my surgery in March. Everything's been going really great though. I think I told everyone they got all the cancer of the intestine, so I was just working on getting rid of the MAC!

I had a CT scan done about a week ago and the results came back and what it says is: complete resolution of right sided pulmonary cavitary lesion and also says that there are no nodules and no consolidation. There was quite a bit of consolidation when they started and tons of nodules. And I had a large cavity..3.5". I only started treatment in March for this. It seems crazy that this would resolve so quickly. I had been taking the Airikayce for the past couple months and prior to that was only on two of the three antibiotics because of a interaction with another medication. I was on the ethambutol and azithromycin. So I guess I'm one of those cases where I didn't need all three of those big antibiotics. My question is that I was told by my ID doctor that cavities don't go away. They can collapse, is that with this means? If it's completely resolved? I'm a little confused. I don't see my infectious disease doctor until November. I'm going to have to put a call into him. I guess. I did see my cancer doctor last week. He did look at the scan and he thought that it looked like my lung grew back. I told him that lungs don't grow back-obviously it's not his specialty! He did say it look like there was lung tissue there now where are the cavity had been. Who's He didn't have the right computer software to look at the CT scan like the radiologist can, but said that it looked a lot better than it did 3 months ago. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone could give me some interpretation of what that could possibly mean? Does it sound like the cavity actually collapsed if it says complete resolution? Previous CT scans it would say that it was an abscess or it would say it was a cavity, I think it was a combination of both depending if it was infected or not...

Anyway, any advice anyone can give would be great. I hope everyone's doing really well on here! There's a couple people I've kept in contact with on here. In my lowest of low times this was the best site that I've ever been on for people to really be helpful and uplifting!! Thank you all!!!! Love and healing!!!!!!

What supplements did you take along with the antibiotic?

As soon as they figured out that I even had chronic infection before the bronchoscopy showed MAC I started taking Azithromycin 500 mg
3 times a week
Centrum for women50+
Vitamin C 1500
Vitamin D3 15,000 iu daily
Elderberry plus immune
Allimax (recently had added this)
Paximune
Ivermectin

That is pretty much it. My immune system is good and I think one’s immune system can fight just about anything. I wasn’t a mask wearer and I never did get Covid.

I hope this helps.
I was determined to prove the ID and pulmonary doctors wrong. 🙂

I also take quite a variety of vitamins. I take in iron supplement, fish oil, berberine, Vit C, and I try to take a probiotic. I think that vitamins and supplements really help. I can't speak for everyone but they've seem to help me! I am not a mask wearer and I think that I am probably asymptomatic to covid. My son had it twice who lives with me and didn't have a single symptom so my guess is that I have had it but am just not symptomatic either and you may be the same way. I think many more people have had covid then what they know because of people that have no symptoms. I'm at. The doctors were pretty surprised at your self-treatment. Did you have a cavity? I can't remember if you had said you did or not. How big of a cavity? Mine was over 3 in. Crazy! You know you never get that lung tissue back because lung tissue doesn't grow back, but I have never had any symptoms. I breathe just fine. Fine. My oxygen levels are always at 99%. I took one of those oxygen tests in the chamber a few months back and that was a point below being normal. They said that my lung function was actually really good. I hope things go really good for you now. I'm hoping for the best with mine too. I see my ID doctor next month again and he'll tell me what the plan is and how long or much longer I have to stay on the antibiotics. Thanks for letting me know!

My ID doctor was surprised and I go to the pulmonologist on the 26 th. He was really pushing the 3 and was aggravated at me when I told him I wasn’t taking them so will see what he has to say then.
I do have cavities but she didn’t say how big. She just said we need to watch them.
I also did a breathing test and I was normal and never had symptoms except I was tired all the time. Not that it slowed me down though. Lol
I am so glad to hear that there are people kicking this.
I hope you continue to do well also.

I did this on my own. Doctors don’t tend to think homeopathic methods work. Lol.
Of course I think the azithromycin had a lot to do with it also.

My oncologist told me that somebody is always going to prove doctor's wrong. He said eventually everything is proved wrong because there are the outlier cases and cases like yours were. They think that they know this can't be treated without antibiotics but yours went away without them or with only one. And I was only taking 2 and had huge results just in a short period of time, then when I got on the Arikayce.. that cavity caved right in!! It's all great news for us 😁

Yes it is and I read that it kills or helps kill bacteria in the lungs.

Hope I understand you correctly:You refuse big three but you are taking Azithromycin for MAC treatment.
As I know, the tuberculosis and MAC (Both are acid fasting bacteria) infections increase in the world because this kind of bacteria very easily becomes antibiotic resistance. The resistance may be caused by unregulated antibiotics treatment, may be due to it’s tough structure. This why doctors want to give this tough bacteria a strong combination antibiotics treatment to avoid left over bacteria become resistant to antibiotics.
I afraid my MAC becomes resistant to antibiotics. I have followed my doctor’s instructions took big three .10 weeks ago doctor added Arikayce in my treatment because at 6th month treatment I got a AFB culture positive report.
About after Arikayce 4weeks, I had side effects experience but only lasted about a month. I feel much better now.Recent 2 months I had 2 negative reports.
