Cardiac MRI with ICD

Hi, Has anyone with Apical HCM and an ICD had a cardiac MRI? If so, were your results definitive? or questionable based on the potential degradation of the images based on the pacemaker artifact making them uninterpretable? My results came back no apical aneurysm but I question that finding given the fact that they are sometimes difficult to see in the best of circumstances and the cardiologist has little experience with this type HCM. Are there other tests that can be done to see if in fact an aneurysm exists? thank you.

Hi @metta,
That's a great question. While we wait to see if another member has had your experience, have you had a chance to speak with your cardiologist regarding the findings? Or has your cardiologist been able to go over his interpretation of the findings with you?

Another question, you mention your cardiologist has little experience with Apical HCM (ApHCM) , have you considered a second opinion at a Center of Excellence? The Mayo Clinic is a world leader in the treatment of HCM.
Apical is the rare, or less common form of HCM and you will want to be in the best place possible for treatment.

I too have apical HCM diagnosed locally so am seeking second opinion at Mayo Rochester. I am a marathon runner and want to know my risks etc and treatment options.

I was unable to have MRI, due to artifact.
