Cardiac MRI

I was dx'ed with HoCm 3 years ago. My symptoms are dynamic and change from none to major fatigue and chest tightness with radiant tightness in the jaw. It's so exhausting. I take verapamil & amiodurone. My cardio sent me to a COE 2 years ago for a VOX stress and a bunch of other tests and they decided I wasn't "bad enough" for Camzyos. I had a recent echo and am having a cardiac MRI in a couple of weeks. Please share your experience with a Cardiac MRI. I get panic attacks in the tube. The Mayo is waiting for these results to see if I can get a septal myectomy. I am 71. Thank you!

I had the Cardiac MRI is not bad. They put music for me during the entire time (I picked The Beatles) which kept me relaxed. I had to be patient and relax and that was it. My mind was on the music and instructions they gave me what to do during the test. It is not bad at all.

The cardiac MRI is a breeze:)
If course im not claustrophobic!
You really are focused on the instructions they give you because you dont want to repeat it if the images dont turn out.
Breath in. Hold your breath. Breath!
I actually kept nodding off! LOL
You will be fine i promise:)

I had it done and I'm claustrophobic. Which i told the m well before hand. They gave me valium or something like that about 1 hour before and it calmed me down and I also had a towel put over my eyes so I didn't have to worry about opening them and seeing the tube. And if I ever do it again I would do it the same way🤷‍♀️

People gave good advice about dealing with the MRI, keep in mind that the staff working in that lab are very experienced with claustrophobic and otherwise anxious patients. I kept my eyes closed; I had to remove my hearing aids so that was a further challenge for the staff. I had a "playlist" in my head and mentally sang along with it. I, too, promise that you will be fine.

You'll have to ask about earphones - if there are metals, my UNprofessional opinion is probably no. It was not long, maybe 10 - 15 minutes tops. Took longer to get settled in and get myself together afterwards than for the actual scan.

I had the cardiac MRI approx a month ago.
I had it with and without the IV contrast
Mine took about 45min.
It wasnt bad. All about taking deep breaths and then holding your breath.
Dont stress about it, Youll do fine and it'll be over before you know it.

Is the MRI procedure 45 minutes or does that include preparation? Thank you!

There really isn't much time spent on preparation.
10 min if that, getting you comfortable & verifying you can hear the instructions clearly while your in the tube
