If you go to the main heading Osteoporosis you will see many subheadings that address various medications for osteoporosis and members experiences using them. You mention your fear of possible side effects. Is your fear based on your own experiences with other types of medications or ....?

1 ReactionGo to the "main heading of osteoporosis"? Where to do that please?
@laren3 There is highlighted links I believe at the bottom of your original post and also in the left hand corner towards the top of this page.
@gravity3 I would add—Research/then speak with docs—many of these meds can affect things like kidney health…balancing the needs of multiple conditions is quite a balancing act . Wish you all good luck !

Absolutely. Ideally a patient should be working in partnership with their docs.

2 ReactionsI am 71 years old dx with with OP two years ago. I had my Dexa scan 2 days ago and my scores when right femoral neck was -2.6, now -2.1. Left femoral neck was -2.4 now -1.7. lumbar 1 and 2 were -3.1 now - 2.1. (I have scoliosis so they could do the rest of my back. I get calcium from food first, D, K2 MK7, Magnesium, C, omega 3, and E. I also make sure I age enough protein. Finally I go to the gym 3 days a week for weight, impact, balance, and posture training. I was not going to go down the drug path, unless mine got really bad. If you decide to take the route I am taking I learned a lot from Dr Lisa Moore at Brick house bone, on YouTube.

4 ReactionsOr bhrt. Positive impact on bone depends, I have read,
on age and length of time post menopause w/o hormone replacement. Doesn't mean that it can't still have some positive change. Also depends on whether there is a cause for osteoporosis other than menopausal bone loss.

3 ReactionsHi, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis a year ago and referred to specialist (endocrinologist). Had multiple tests done and went in for a couple appointments. Received info about Evenity, but ultimately decided to start Tymlos. Have been taking injections in the evening before bed. The injections are easy and painless. Haven’t noticed any significant side effects. I’ve only been on Tymlos for two weeks, but now I’m thinking about what follow-up drug I’ll be taking. These decisions to commit to drugs are not easy. I’m glad to have this site to compare notes and learn more about what we’re dealing with.
