Can I take 2000mg of vitamin D every other day? My level was too high.
My Dr. wants me to reduce amount of vitamin D due to high levels. I had just bought 2 bottles of vitamin D 2000mg. So wondering if I can just take what I have every other day rather than buying the 1000mg.

That will work. If you're out in the sun on any particular day, don't take it that day.

Please refer your question to your doctors. Taking a supplment when you doctor has asked you to reduce it should be a caution to you on how much. Ask your doctor about how much is safe to take as a supplement.
You do not mention your job or lifestyle. Are you out in the sun a lot? When you are do you wear sun screen? I asked that as vitamin D is one of the sources for your body getting vitamin D. Doctors, including mine, advise if out in sun a lot or take a high dose of vitamin D should periodically have your blood tested. It appears from your post your doctor did such a test.
Vitamin D can be toxic if taken in high doses or taken when you get a lot of vitamin D from sun and other sources. Just be careful and asked your doctor what level would be safe for you.
Eample: I have a lot of PVCs. A poster was saying how much potassium helped his PVCs. Then others cited same. So I thought wow should add it to my supplements. Went out and bought it and then remembered my Mayo doctors saying to check with them before adding any supplments.
MY EP came back and said do not take a potassium supplment. Your blood test reveal you are already at the high level for potassium in your blood. So passing on my experience with this and how important it is to check with your doctors before taking supplements.
I would think so, since it would be approximately half the weekly dose that you were taking. Check with doc if in doubt.
I need 6000 IU daily just to stay in mid-range, but get tested regularly because levels do fluctuate.
