Can a person take Forteo again after a 5 year break?
I just got the results of my DXA scan. I am in the osteopenia range. I finished a 2 year round of Forteo in 2011. I had to take a lot of prednisone earlier last year, which is why I think I have the decrease again. Just wondered if I could repeat this drug?

I also plan to use Reclast after my two years on Forteo. 6 months to go. I won't take Prolia. I hope you are doing well.
I thought you could take Forteo longer than two years now. (My doc is going to follow Tymlos with partial dose of Reclast, with breaks that are monitored in terms of any bone loss.)
I’m going to ask my Doctor about this too. The “black box” warning has been lifted, so I would think it is possible to continue.
The black box warning has been lifted for Forteo and it can be taken longer than 2 years. The same thing may happen for Tymlos but it is newer so hasn't happened yet. Evenity is also an option for growing bone.
I’m 47 days from finishing up my 2 years of Forteo and then depending on the bone scan I will be put on 2 years of Prolia.
