Hello lobste and thank you for sharing your concerns about the burning sensation you are experiencing on your knees.
Would you mind explaining a bit more about the burning sensation that you are feeling so I can help Connect you with other members who may be experiencing similar symptoms? Have you had other injuries to your knees prior to the onset of the burning sensation?
it is more like a slight pain. it comes and goes and I don’t know if this is arthritis.
Lobste, it sounds like you should speak with your doctor about your concerns. If the pain comes and goes, I might suggest marking in your calendar when the pain comes and what you were doing at the time. You might also grade the pain on a scale from 1-5 and how long it lasted, that way when you go to your doctor, there might be a pattern that would help with a diagnosis.
Hi, @lobste! @JustinMcClanahan suggestion to see your doctor is wise. They are in the best position to do a proper evaluation and talk through possible treatment options. That said, Mayo Clinic has a guide to preparing for knee pain appointments that may be helpful: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/knee-pain/diagnosis-treatment/preparing-for-appointment/ptc-20190208
Some questions you might consider asking:
What is causing my pain? Is there a name for my condition?
What is causing my condition?
Will I keep having this problem?
How can I stop the condition from occurring again?
Will I need to have lab or other diagnostic tests? Which ones?
How soon will I get the results? Will someone call me with the results, or do I need to call the office?
Should I take any medications? Which ones?
What will the medication do?
How often should I take the medication? With food?
Are there side effects?
Are there any foods or other drugs that I should not take while on this medication?
Can I drive a car while taking this medication?
Do I need to limit any activities? How and which ones?
Is there anything I can do to improve my bone quality or overall health?
Hope this is a helpful starting point!!
Yes, I have almost constant burning across my knees. I had bi-lateral knee replacement in 2005. Knees were fine for a few years, then the burning began. It is in the same place on both knee caps. I’ve been to my family physician and to my surgeon. Neither knows what causes the burning or how to relieve the burning. Bio-freeze is temporary relief. I’ve just joined this list.
So I just came across this site. I have been having this burning on the left side of knee. Maybe for 3 months or so. It would come and go and it would only happen when I layed down at night. But this week it came back and I feel it all day it gets worse when I lay down for the evening. Now it’s going down front of calf to ankle. Keeps me awake ,I put a pillow under my knee eases it a little. Can’t go to Dr till Jan 1 because of insurance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you don’t mind, would you be comfortable sharing a bit more information about your sensation? Is it painful? Does it increase when you are more active or is it a steady sensation regardless of your activity level?
Dosent increase with doing more activity..actually usually starts burning when I settle down for the night. And wakes me up at night with the burning feeling. Not really painful..very uncomfortable..now today it hasn’t burned. But had been for the past week. I also get this excruciating pain on the top of my feet .when I move first thing in the morning..it is so painful. Then as I move around more it’s not as bad but still noticeable.
I too started having burning sensations in both my knees. I feel the more active I am the more I feel it. Went to the doctors they said it’s nothing. It really is making my job uncomfortable and the doctors are not helpful because I had no pain when they would move my leg up and down.
@jentlyme What I forgot helped me was tumeric I take 500 mg daily plus I would drink ginger -Tumeric tea taste good and Tumeric is good for inflammation Joe,s has it At present I don't have the burn
