rlynnh, MAC is Mycobacterium Avium Complex. Those of us with BE (bronchiectasis) are at higher risk to get these pathogens. I suggest you do some research to learn more and be proactive. This will lower your risk of getting a chest infection.

Just a thought here. I believe chest x-rays are initially ordered more often than CT’s is because there is less radiation exposure. Once we have lung disease, the benefits of following the disease are probably considered worth the risk.
Note: the risks are pretty low, but not zero.

ID doc informed me that a subset of patients fit a profile for Lady Windemers Syndrome…that’s my situation. Respiratory therapist at NJH tried relentlessly to induce a sputum sample with higher saline solutions in the booth…to no avail. What has worked for you…anything?

I have the same situation as you do. I also went to NJH but only able to produce small amounts of sputum which is typical now. I produce some sputum upon awakening and small amounts during the day but Nebulizing does not really help for me.
I have not tried the multiple positions which was recommended in previous posting.

Very relaxed breathing, short and deep in multiple positions! Upright, on back, each side, slightly inverted.
