Bowel or fecal incontinence and how to manage it
I am 73 yr old femal with diagnosed Celiac, Microscopic Colitis and IBS. i don’t have diarrhea, BM’s are either soft formed or constipated small hard stool, but either way I can be incontenant of small amount of stool. I wear a pad in close knit underwear with legs, so nothing can escape. Any advice from people with same problem would be comforting and useful. I would like to know how you handled it on social occasions.
Thank you, Emyliander

@samclembeau my new GI mentioned the b-sure pads, I have not tried them yet but may have to give them a try. I have folded up toilet tissue to line my Depend type underwear just so I don't have to change them each time I have leakage at night. I will have to do some searching as well. Thanks for the info.
@janspons don't just line the pad, actually fold up about 4 sheets of tp and tuck between your cheeks right at the anus.
will prevent leakage I understand and pops off when you sit down to go to the toilet.

2 ReactionsI also have weak muscles and was tested by a good proctologist. He put me on a seat that vivrated at different levels. I started on low and by the 6th session (each one was for 20 minutes) the vibration was quite strong. It takes 3 months for the results to show up. When I went back after 3 months it was a little better so he gave me a few more sessions on the chair. Thid month will be 3 months since my last session and it has improved a little more. He said if I wsnt, he can install an Axonics in me to give me the control I need. My functional medicine provider suggested I try a good vibrating playe first. I haven’t made a decision yet.

2 ReactionsI suffer from a form of IBD because when I was about 19 years old I had a ruptured appendix. When they operated they discovered that gangrene had set in. It had spread so bad that the doctor doing the operation had to remove 3 or 4 feet of my intestine. I suffered in pain in recovery under the drug Demerol to ease the pain for 1 month's time.
From that time, I've often been incontinent. To this day I wear pull ups because I never know when I might be incontinent.
It could have been worse... I could have developed cancer over the years. I happen to be 70\Y.O. The only other things wrong with me is that I developed later onset bipolar illness. Also say 4-5 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Both illnesses are under control.
