Booking a Mayo appointment

Posted by brownsparrow @brownsparrow, Mar 8, 2022

My goal here is not to complain, but hoping someone from Mayo will see this and consider changing their procedures. I filled out the online form on the Mayo website to book appointments for both my parents who have AD and are not cognizant of it due to the disease.
I said I was the one booking the appointments, said what I wanted the appointments for (AD), and included my name, email, and phone number for them to contact me. I stupidly also inputted my parent's phone number in the appropriate box, not ever thinking Mayo would use that number since I was the one requesting the appointments.
So Mayo calls my parents, leading to me getting an earful and, unfortunately, the Mayo scheduler who called also getting an earful about how they don't have AD and don't need any appointments and if they do, THEY will be calling Mayo.
Mayo, please call the person who requested the appointment so others don't have to go through what I did.
Now, on top of everything else, I have to do damage control and calm them down.

@brownsparrow, I'm so sorry that you this has added an extra layer of work for you to undo the damage of your parents being contacted. I will pass along your feedback to the scheduling department.

Besides having to calm them down, will you be able to help them get medical care for AD in the near future?

Thank you. Yes, they have a doctor, but I had wanted to establish care at Mayo since I will be moving them closer to me. I know it will probably take a few months to get appointments in place.

Have you been able to establish yourself as the only contact person with Mayo's scheduler? Here are the phone numbers of each campus should you wish to call to ensure the record states that clearly http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

You're wise to get these things in place in advance. When will they be moving closer to you? Will they be moving into a care facility?
