Bone marrow biopsy: Was it painful?
I have a doctor at Mayo and a oncologist at UP Health System in Marquette Michigan. I have had one bone marrow biopsy at Marquette. I didn't feel a thing. Some people say the pain is bad for the biopsy. My doctor at Mayo, that I trust very much, asked where I would like to have the next biopsy, Mayo or Marquette. Has anyone had a bone marrow biopsy at Mayo? Was it painful at all? Thanks!!!

Could you drive home yourself?
@kittyshannon
I probably could have but I didn't. It is a hour drive from the hospital to where I live. They kept me about 45 minutes in the post opp area and checked every few minutes to make sure there was no bleeding. I felt so good that we went out to eat at the buffet. Before heading home. No pain what so ever and very little soreness. I am sure that I could have went to work the next day but I am retired. Good Luck

Thank you very much. I hope that you are doing well.
Mine was performed 3 years ago. As I recall, it was just a local anesthesic. I don’t really remember any painful elements of the process that weren’t very tolerable.
