BNP Natriuretic Peptide test
Had a test for the BNP and the results were almost 600. The RN said not to worry because I have bronchitis and that could put my levels off???? She is going to run the test again in two weeks. My platelets are red flagged also. Reads the larger ones are eating the smaller ones. I know it is a sign of congestive heart failure. Is it possible it is nothing and the numbers will come down????

@etheldaylily, as you likely already know a BNP level of 100 pg/mL or less is considered normal. I can understand why seeing the value of 600 would have you concerned. Other conditions and other factors like age, gender, stress can influence the BNP level.
This article offers further information and things you can do to lower your levels.

Further tests are usually needed to confirm if you have congestive heart failure. Don't hesitate to call 911 or emergency medical help if you have any of the following:
- Chest pain
- Fainting or severe weakness
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat associated with shortness of breath, chest pain or fainting
- Sudden, severe shortness of breath and coughing up white or pink, foamy mucus
May I ask, what situation or symptoms led to your doctor ordering BNP originally?
