Bloodwork

Posted by tconz @tconz, Feb 2, 2023

Has anyone had their first round of bloodwork after starting the Big 3 come back HIGH in many of the categories? I have been on it for 1 month and never had my bloodwork with this many HIGH marks.

Which blood tests are you referring to? My liver test results were higher while on the Big 3, but not dangerously so. They have returned to normal.

I am referring to the full panel bloodwork for a physical. I have heard the liver test can come back higher but since it was my first bloodwork since starting the Big 3 it really made me nervous. ACT-51 and ALT 73 (liver function) and TSH 6.43I (Thyroid) were all high and I have never had this issue before so I figure it is the antibiotics. I actually go Monday to see my Primary Physician for my physical and see what he says. My ID should have received the report as well.

What did your doctor say Monday about these tests?
I have only been on the antibiotics for two months and my ALT and my Anion test came back flagged a little high. They’ve always been low before.

The Primary said these HIGH results on my bloodwork could very well be from my body reacting to the medications (my ALT was 73 what was yours). He was very surprised because my bloodwork is always so good. He is going to repeat next month and I also see the ID next month and have to do bloodwork for him as well (my poor veins LOL). They are really monitoring this closely but I am currently still on the same strength and 7 days a week meds schedule. Once I see ID that could change. I am going to my first appointment at NJH May 2nd and really looking forward to it.

If you are seeing the ID doc next month, can he share your blood test results with your primary, and avoid one more jab (and lab fee)? My docs (even between 2 networks) are very good about that.

The lab can do both at one time and then send each Doctor what they specifically ordered.

I use Quest and their system allows me to see my results (as soon as available) and allows me to fax them to any doctor I want.

My pulm just wrote me that often at first on the antibiotics those liver and kidney tests come slightly high but go back down after body adapts to the meds. Also, she sited other lab results involved with liver and kidneys that were normal, so she wasn’t worried but we will keep an eye on these. If all the other lab tests related to liver and kidneys were high, she would be concerned
