Blood in urine, young female: Testing not showing cause

Posted by user1515 @user1515, Mar 28 4:21am

Has anyone had blood in urine (Hematuria) that doctor could not find what’s wrong. I’ve had urine test (negative of infection), ultrasound of bladder and kidneys (normal), camera up urethra and bladder (normal), blood tests all normal including liver and kidney function) and still no ideas as to what’s causing the bleeding. Just wanting to know if anyone has had something similar before. I’m female in my 30s and healthy person. It’s been two weeks with blood in urine which changes from pink to sometimes brown.
Any help appreciated! TIA

I run but not intense running. No change from the past running which would cause something different. Thanks for thinking of that though

Update: I had a CT scan which has showed a blockage in my left kidney so turns out that is what’s causing it. Kidney showed as clear via blood test and ultrasound but not on CT. They can’t see what’s causing the blockage so have to go in to see.

Hi there, Ive been struggling with the same issue. Had all the tests and nothing ever shows up. For me seems to happen every 2 months. It just happened to me again today, last time was February. It’s so strange. I was going to call the dr after rethinking I’ll see how things go if it settles gets worse and give him a call Monday. Last time I spoke with the urologist he said I might just be one of those people that have blood in their urine. It’s certainly unsettling for sure

I don’t have an answer for why this is happening, but I can tell you I’ve experienced the same thing over the years.
Started when I was in my early 40’s, I’m 65 now.
Same as you, I went through a battery of tests which did not show any reason for the blood.
Then over the years, my urine analysis would sometimes show blood. The doctor would retest in a month or two and the blood would be gone.
Just this February, while away on vacation, I had visible blood in my urine, very light pink. Since I was out of the country I did not feel comfortable going to a hospital, so I increased my water intake by quite a bit.
I saw my doctor when I got home and an initial urine culture showed I had a bladder infection, but further testing refuted that.
So I am back to square one. I have no illnesses to speak of, except osteoporosis, so no idea why this is happening.
I feel fine otherwise.
My gut tells me that if anything was wrong it would have shown up in one of the many tests I’ve had over the years.
You can’t fight an invisible foe, as long as you feel good and your tests are normal, don’t worry on it too much.
Just my opinion.
Take care,

I too have this problem. I am from India and I got all the tests done. All the tests came normal. Then my urologist referred me to a nephrologist. He asked me to go for a biopsy because blood comes in IGAN.
