Blind spot in my vision?
I’ve been noticing a blind spot in my vision and I’m trying to understand what it could be. It’s usually crescent-shaped, but sometimes it looks more like a small black dot in the center of my vision. Other times it’s a larger crescent or a smaller one, it changes.
I can’t really pinpoint exactly where it is because it only becomes noticeable when I’m looking at a white or very bright background. It isn’t always there, and it doesn’t stay the same shape or size.
My partner thinks it could be something like astigmatism, but I’m worried I might be going blind. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what this might point to?

I used to work as an optometric tech!! I totally get what you’re going through, because I deal with it too 😅
I actually had mine checked about two months ago.
My doctor referred me to a really nice specialist (she wasn’t even worried, she just wanted me to see one to be extra safe). He examined my eyes and told me everything looks totally fine, but that I have two things going on.
First, migraine aura, and it doesn’t always come with migraine pain. That’s called a silent migraine, and it’s harmless. He said those can cause crescent shaped blind spots and that they can change shape/size. He also reassured me that everyone has a blind spot and said he can’t even count how many people come in terrified they’re going blind.
Second, he told me I have astigmatism, updated my prescription, and sent me on my way 🤷♀️
I still notice it sometimes, but now I know my eyes are fine, and I’ve got pretty new glasses, so honestly, win win

1 ReactionI have a lameler hole. Pardon the spelling. I really notice it when I am looking straight on at something. It is very noticeable when I do the eye chart at the eye doctor. Sounds like you need to see an eye specialist to get a diagnosis. I go to three different eye doctors and I am told the eye specialist than an operation would not do any good. Corrective eye lens do not help. Please see an eye specialist.
