Bleeding several days after ablation?

Has anyone experienced bleeding after a PF ablation? Five days after a successful ablation, I had a bad nose bleed which finally stopped after 1 hour of treatment. I hadn't had one since being a kid (now 81 yr female). A week after that, the blind spot in my wet macular degeneration became larger 4 days before my next shot (shots are every 4 weeks). Shots reduce the size and leakage of blood vessels in the eye. Is there a connection to the huge amount of warfarin used in the PFA? Other than that, the ablation seems to be a success--no Afib episodes! Yay!

It is always possible, but it would be from your body's annoyance at new drugs that you're not used to taking and which your body has no experience using heretofore. IOW, people come to these heart threads all the time saying their systems seem to hate 'blood thinner X', or they don't do well on statins because their joints and muscles ache. So, maybe it was this novel experience that made the difference for you. Could be? Dunno what else to suggest. You should definitely get ahold of your ophthalmologist though....right away.

Are you taking a DOAC (Eliquis or Xarelto) ? I know someone on Eliquis who has experienced several nosebleeds.

They gave you a "huge amount of warfarin during the ablation??" I am not aware that I was given that during mine. (I was, and still am on Xarelto).

@gloaming Thanks, I was able to see the ophthalmologist quickly who thought there might be a connection with the warfarin and the blood vessels that are leaking into my macula. I have a follow up with the ablation team on May 1 and will ask for their opinion. I am continuing with my usual dose of Eliquis 2.5mg twice a day.

@nevets Yes, I am on 2.5mg of Eliquis twice a day and have been for a number of years. Earlier it was 5mg twice a day, but they dropped it due to age (81) and weight. Maybe a reaction to a different blood thinner and a much larger dose?

@carculmer As explained to me pre-procedure--it is to reduce the chance of blood clots. This was in addition to my usual DOAC Eliquis 2.5 mg twice a day.
