Biopsy shown compound letiginous melanocytic proliferation
I just received my skin biopsy report for the third time in a year.
My first two were diagnosed 0 stage in situ but this time it was a diagnosis showing an unusual crowding of cells that may or may not form into melanoma sometime in the unknown future. It was still recommended to surgically remove tissue with margin again.
Is the pathologist/dermatologist being overly cautious? I'm not sure what to do, Anyone have a similar experience?

There are many variables in your question that determine the doctors judgement.
Your age and skin type.
Your history of sun exposures.
Family history.
Any other skin cancers in the family
The location on your body and size of lesion.
Is the pathologist a board certified dermatopathologst.?
Potential for scarring and healing.
Can you request another pathologist to review your slides.
Lastly insurance and cost for any techniques in treatment.
I would suggest removal of any atypically reported pigmented lesions that look
abnormal to your dermatologist.
Consider photovigilance of pigmented areas.
