@surechamp I’m 76 and taking the Wegovy pill. The starting dose is 1.5 mg and so far I’m sticking with that. I only needed to lose about 20 lbs. and I’m down 13 over 4 mos. It’s slow, but I don’t care. I have almost no symptoms, other than I can’t overeat. Check with your doctor to get on the Medicare Bridge program. It can be used for weight loss and costs just $50/ month. Good luck.

There's no single drug for weight loss that will be best for all seniors. This is because what is chosen will depend on various factors like general health, current medications, renal and cardiac health, mobility and the amount of weight to be shed. Glp 1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide could be used as part of prescription medicines. However for elderly individuals, it's important to preserve muscle mass and prevent the loss of lean body mass, which is why a healthy diet and exercise are essential. I would recommend consulting your physician who will consider your past medical history and the current medications.

It all really depends on the person. Some newer GLP-1 drugs might be effective for weight loss in seniors, but the proper one is chosen based on various things like other drugs, kidney health, and the potential loss of muscle. It would be best to consult a doctor before taking any weight loss drugs.
