Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30 1:48pm

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

@jessie1990 The 5 lymph nodes were clear. Hallelujah. I was tremendously thankful for that.

@jessie1990 You may have to ask for something if they do not initially just offer it to you while you are waiting to go to the OR.
I have had about 11 operations in my lifetime, but this one really had me worried. I think part of it was because I had a funny feeling about the surgeon. I didn't know the pulmonary doctor either. He was not the one I had researched and requested.

@nannybb I haven't met the main surgeon I met someone on his team so I have no idea who he is nor what he looks like 🥹

@jessie1990 My surgeon admitted when he actually went in to operate, the tumor had shrunk. He thought it was from the biopsy. He went ahead (obviously) with the operation and the lymph node removal. I just wonder if he had done one more scan beforehand, and saw that it was smaller, if he would have waited. 🤷‍♀️

@nannybb I thought by half of mine been removed it will make surgery abit easier he said no it won't it make surgery any way easier so that kind of makes me scared

@jessie1990 I have to work. There is only me to look after me. My son helps a bit, but he has a regular job, and he is a volunteer fireman. I've had a roommate for about 6 years and that has helped. But we are parting at the end of Jan. That has multiplied my anxiety...I don't know, 200% (?) If insurance does not come through soon, I may have to go back to work in my present condition.

@jessie1990 Totally agree. My friend, I think I mentioned in here somewhere, was very mean and aggressive. I had to end the friendship. Not worth it. Plus she would hide what she was drinking and how much. To be fair, I think she drank because of physical pain, but to me, that is not a healthy solution.

@jessie1990 I hope that for you too. My work gets my mind off of things. I tend to go over stuff in my mind. Like over and over. Not good. When I'm really working, I don't have a lot of time for ruminating.

@jessie1990 Can you ask to meet him to ask more questions? That's kind of weird.

@jessie1990 I would think at the very least, it would shorten the time he has to be in there to get the rest of it. Your case seems way more complicated than mine was. I'm wondering if he is going to make sure he doesn't need to check more lymph nodes. Has he discussed that with you? I made the surgeon sit down and tell me every aspect of his plan. I even went back a second time after the biopsy and before the actual surgery.
