Was bullied about weight when i was in high school Weighed 150 lbs to 175 lbs at that age and was 5 foot 7. Would love to be 150 lbs now.

A1C is normal now.
Try to work out and love to but too heavy and hurt myself every time! One arm 2 inches fatter than other.

Hoping this will change my life and make it easier to run!

Welcome to Mayo Connect, I hope you find this group helpful with your weight issues. How great that your A1C is normal and you have already lost some weight.

Can you tell us more about your plans, are you planning on having surgery?

Struggled with weight when I got out of high school.

When I read your post about being too heavy to work out I wanted to mentioned what I do 5 days a week. Water Aerobics. You are in the water (advice is find a depth where water is up to your chest) and it takes the weight off you.

We have many participants who come in wheel chairs, walkers, MS patients, those with bad knees, backs, hips and other who came out of surgery with those issues. It is a great workout that you can go at any level you want. You pick the size weights and noodles that you use in the water for resistance.

Many of the movements are running in place, etc. I find working out to music enjoyable and can do this 5 days a week with a smile on my face. Now some thing not a good workout but the workout is what you put in it.

A lot of YMCA's have indoor or outdoor pools and offer water aerobics. Some communities like mine have outdoor and indoor pools for water aerobics classes.

Again I would say half the class could not do the exercises we do based on their weight, medical conditions, injuries, etc. if exercise was not done in the water removing probably 75% of our body weight on joints that makes doing on land impossible.

I'm just starting my journey, AGAIN, and I am certain, my LAST. I am taking in as much information, pros/cons, and getting set up with the various providers. I look forward to getting my life back and permanently breaking so many bad habits and behaviors.

Welcome to Mayo Connect, At the beginning there is a lot of information, appointments, evaluations. The more you know and the more the providers know about you, the better chance of success. It is a tool to help with life changes.

Do you care to share where you plan on having surgery and type of surgery?

Welcome to Mayo Connect. Great work so far.
The fear of regaining is always a concern. I am 13 year out from RNY and have had some weight gain and loss. But once scale stars creeping up, I get back on track. Worked to hard to get to where I am. If a post surgery support group is available, take advantage of. They help remind you of basics and provide information on other post surgery topics.

What type of surgery are you considering?

Hello. I'm Paul. I am from La Crosse, Wisconsin. I am 41 yrs old and work as a social worker in family care. I am just starting my bariatric journey and am still unsure/scared of it. I have 2 weeks left of my weight class and meet with my first consult tomorrow. I have lost about 25 pounds so far this year (mostly from my new anxiety diagnosis). I have cut out caffeine and keep my calories under 2,000 per day. That is all I've done so far. I am most worried about changing habits after surgery. I'm scared temptation will get the best of me when I know I need to be mindful and careful.

I appreciate your reply. Having had surgery ... just two months ago, your advice on succeeding in my new path is particularly meaningful. I plan to save your message to reflect on as I navigate this new stage. Thank you
Karen
