Chin Straps - Do They Help with Snoring?

Are chin straps actually of any therapeutic value in encouraging breathing through the nose or are they just a con. How restrictive are they in holding the jaw shut - sounds a bit scary

Hi @lotsofpain, You will notice we changed the title of your discussion a little to hopefully let members know what the discussion is about so they can share their experience with you. Here's what the American Sleep Association has to say about them:

@thankful has discussed using one in another discussion and may have some information to share with you. I bought one and have used it a couple of times but that was before I started using my CPAP with a full face mask. They do hold your jaw shut but depending on how tight you make it, you can still open your mouth. It just takes a little more effort. I really didn't think it was scary myself but I guess it could make one feel that way. The good thing is that they are not too expensive.

Do you use a CPAP?
