Ascites with infection, muscle loss, weight loss

Posted by toughyear2023 @toughyear2023, Jun 26, 2023

I had my 2nd Peritonitis almost 4 months ago. It did have infection in the fluid so we got that under control. I lost 50lbs in about a 5 month time frame and a ton on muscle loss. Over the last 3 months I feel great. Lots of energy, no Ascites, all of my lab work numbers are going down. Of course I’m on all kinds of meds. My question is the following -is there anyway to not require surgery and get better?

That’s an awesome story. Something’s are just meant to be and timing is everything in life. I couldn’t be happier for you and pray that my process goes 1/2 as smoothly. I’ve got a big appt on the 21st. Another full work up followed by an MRI. It’s been almost 6 months since having any Ascites or hepatic encephalopathy thanks to the Lactulose and furosemide and speralactone and Cipro and Zifaxin and some additional meds. I gained about 15 lbs but have been stuck on that number for a few months. Lots of protein drinks each day. Anyway, glad to hear your good news and hope all is well. Hope to hear something good myself come Monday. Appreciate you reaching out. Marc
