Application process for new patients

Posted by tracy124 @tracy124, Aug 25, 2021

When I applied in 2019 to be a patient at Mayo I had to send all my records including Xrays, MRIs, etc., from any doctor who had anything to do with the problem for which I was seeking treatment. This was in order for the orthopedics team to determine if they'd take me on as a patient. Is this still how the process works?

Hello, @tracy1234 welcome to Mayo Connect.

I’m posting a link to Mayo’s, Requesting an Appointment page. From there you’ll be able to select the Mayo Campus where you’d like to seek treatment. A simple phone call to the main number will connect you with knowledgeable coordinators who can help you with all the information you’ll need. They will know which department to direct you to and what you’d need to submit for an appointment.

While you don’t need a physician’s referral it can sometimes help process a request. I’m not sure if the procedure is the same as it was in 2019. So calling the clinic will give you direct answers.

I hope you get a quick response. Will you let me know when you have a scheduled appointment?

Hello. Yes, the procedure is still the same. I called Mayo two days ago requesting an appointment with a spine specialist and was sent a follow up email with a list of everything I need to submit which includes all clinical notes, tests, etc. from all doctors that I saw for this problem. So hopefully I can get into see someone there
