Anyone tried Taurine supplements?

Posted by avcowie @avcowie, Jan 12 1:22pm

I’ve been reading that Taurine has helped lower BP, improved brain fog and increased energy. Along with many other benefits.
Has anyone given Taurine a try? If so, what were your results?

I am just curious, have you checked whether it is ok to take Taurine if you are on Camzyos? I am super interested in your original question and hope to hear back about anyone trying Taurine!

I was on Camzyos for just over 3 months and had to stop because it was making my symptoms worse. So I’m interested in looking at other treatments to help me with safely getting more energy and mental clarity.

Hi @avcowie, you ask an interesting question! I found this on the internet from the Cleveland Clinic you may find interesting...
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/taurine
In the meantime, I am sorry to hear you had a negative experience with Camzyos. From what I read, taurine may have some benefits, some unknown side effects, but I would not expect it to help HCM. What does your cardiologist say? Is surgery your next step?

I will be talking with him soon and will ask. I had a holter monitor for a day last week and he wanted to look at options to help me while I wait for surgery. I was scheduled for OHS in May but had an echocardiogram stress the day before and they found mitral valve involvement- which likely brought on the HCM directly adjacent. With no mitral valve surgeon available they cancelled my surgery. Tried Camzyos for the summer and now on the surgery route again. I had intake meetings with nursing and anaesthesia in early December, but still no date. I’m guessing it’s the co-ordination of the OHCM surgeon and Mitral valve surgeon that’s causing delay. But my condition is worsening, moving to stage 4.
Looking forward to feeling better for sure. I’ll write again when I have news about taurine.
Take care,
Angela
