Anyone tried or on EXELON for DEMENTIA?

Posted by Christie Cline @pnutcline, Aug 11, 2023

Hi,
I have dementia from Alzheimer's. I'm 64 lady. Aricept gave me terrible nightmares. Now my neurologist has prescribed EXELON PATCH. Anyone who has been on this? Or has it helped a family member?

We have been on the Excelon Patch for 3 - 4 years. It has been amazing and no side effects. When my hubby was still putting on the patches by himself, there was a time period where he went 4 days without changing a patch. I began to notice a very fast regression...and then I checked and sure enough he had not changed the patches daily for that amount of time. We started back on a routine, and he began to settle down and was much more competent. I do lable each patch when we open a new box with the day of the week and the month, (Mon/August 14) so that I can be sure we do one each day. Now, as he has regresssed, I put the patches on him each night, but he stands there and is very compliant. Not sure how much it is helping now, but I do believe that it not only gave us more quality time but also more quantity of time. (Aricept gave him terrible headaches, so I am grateful for the alternative of this patch.) Hope this helps.
