Anyone participating in the Tapestry DNA Sequencing Research?
if you have volunteered or declined to participate, I'd like to here your thoughts. I was on the fence, very undecided, yet I decided to go ahead to do it. I have a few low grade health problems im dealing with , and really dont want to hear anymore. That said, I realize this testing may be of great value at some point. Also its strictly voluntary and can be declined at anytime. I sent mine in today.

I've received my kit today. However with everything going on in the world I am struggling to go through with it. Any thoughts? I do have medical issues and hereditary health conditions but I am still Leary of putting my DNA out there.

1 ReactionI did the Tapestry DNA test a few years ago. I don't think you have anything to worry about. They don't share health info with insurance companies. They comply with all aspects of HIPAA. I've got lots of medical issues and feel comfortable with sharing the DNA for Mayo Clinic medical research.

Was anyone asked to participate in the Tapestry Study?
If I remember correctly I just saw that the Tapestry DNA test was available and I signed up for it. I had already done the University of Michigan's Gene's for Good study and the Mayo Clinic Helix DNA test so did the Tapestry study out of curiosity to see if I could learn more.

4 ReactionsI also did the tapestry study a few years ago. There were a couple of “mistakes”. It said that I had curly hair.- I don’t. It also said that I was tall. I’m not. It said that I don’t like cilantro. That’s true. Luckily, none of the health issues that I was tested for had a DNA connection.

It said I was a restless sleeper and that is true. Fortunately I don't have any of the serious things it covers. I found out some interesting percents on my ethnic origins - although the Tapestry study is not the best for that....but it is free.
