Anyone find balance between constipation & loose stools after RNY?
I had RNY on May 30 this year. Constipation with pain hurts. Miralax barely works. I took Collace and have had diaherria for 2 days. Anyone experience this. Trying to find a healthy balance is driving me nuts. This been going on for 3 weeks......

Lomotil is stronger and actually causes constipation. Nevertheless Itake it when going out of my home. I take 2 to 5 immodiums eveyday whethere or not I’m taking Lomotil. My NP told me you can take up to 14 immodiums per day if necessary. I have never taken that many. I do take 2 immodiums at bedtime and one Lomotil if I am going out in the morning.
I have have the same issue. Recently I started Motegrity and miralax and that seems to help. I adjust the miralax depending on if things seem to be loose or if constipation. So some days I take Miralax twice a day and sometimes just once. If I don't have a bowel movement that day I take the second dose before I go to bed and then it usually helps the next day.
Hello, I had a roux n y. I was wondering if this is common? I had my surgery almost 3 months ago, and I can start a regular diet along with increasing my calorie intake. I find my hunger is back, and I want to eat more. I am very fearful of gaining weight. I continue to follow my medical advice on exercise, protein and liquid intake. Along with tracking what I eat. Also with this worry about gaining weight with the diet change, I am seeing some depression which I have not seen for sometime. I would appreciate any input so I can continue a positive life style journey.
I think it's more common than you think. After my bypass I could drink and eat anything. Which upon reflection, 20 years later, was to my detriment. I lost 175 pounds in less than a year and 20 years later have gained a total of 60 back. If I could talk to myself then I would say get into a program, Weight Watchers worked for me in the past and get on an exercise regime. I'm very dedicated to my exercising, 3- 5 times per week depending on my schedule, try to stay active and eat well I would say 70% of the time, however age is a definite factor in weight loss. I am 72 and in my 30, 40 and even 50's I could lose weight much easier. You seem to be aware of potential weight gain and that is the first place to start. And remember don't freak out if it's a small gain as your body most likely is stabilizing after surgery. Best of luck to you.
what medication were you put on?
