Anyone have painful, urgent urination after cystoscopy and catheter?
I had a Foley inserted over a month ago, then removed for cystoscopy and low grade 2 cm tumor removal, then reinserted for drainage. Still having painful, urgent urination. Only symptom before catheter was blood in urine. How unusual is this?

@jimbol, I moved your question about urination urgency into its own discussion about painful urination and urgency in men after cystoscopy and catheter. I'm tagging a few members like @jlp27 @jaxfl @gemdoc25 @pol7 who may have tips to share.
Jim, how long ago did you have the cystoscopy? When was the catheter removed?
Although urination in my case had slowed down in the year before my diagnosis and first cystoscopy, (slowed perhaps due to the tumor in my bladder or to an enlarged prostate), it really wasn't painful until the period immediately after the cystoscopy while the catheter was still in. The only thing that made a difference was the Flowmax prescription. That drug immediately changed everything. Now the only times that I feel any pain and/or urgency, are the days of my BCG instillations. Everything turns back to normal within 24 hours after the instillation.

1 ReactionThanks, I'm currently on Tamsulosin, but it doesn't help. I'll mention Climax to my doctor.
