Anyone have flu like reactions to rifabutin or rifampin

I recently switched from rifampin to rifabutin to try & help with gerd. I seem to be having a violent reaction with unstoppable chills, body aches, headache & fever. Been taking for a week & Today is 2nd time it happened day after dose. Had to leave work & still sick. Test for flu & covid negative. Blood work tomorrow.

Yes, I also had horrible flu like symptoms. My ID doc had me stop, wait 3 weeks and start again, same reaction. I ended up just taking levequin instead until I got numb toes. I finished off my last 4-5 months on just azithromycin and ethambutol.

@rbl are you Mac negative now? Did the numbness resolve after you stop the meds?

I have had all negative sputum samples except for one positive when first off meds. I am waiting for my June AFB stain results. Some of the numbness in my toes resolved but I still feel enough numbness to make me know it's not normal. I can live with it, better than being on meds any day....
