Anyone else have multiple autoimmune diseases?

Posted by noelcs @noelcs, Sep 28, 2025

I have Addisons, Hypothyroidism, Sarcoidosis, Myasthenia Gravis and Dermatomyositis. Also, Kidney disease 3a, and liver disease. Good news is……I don’t seem to have the worst. Are scenario of any of them. My biggest problem is the lungs. I still golf some and the breathing sometimes interferes. Overall, I consider myself lucky that I’m still here……because I’ve had some close calls.

Have you tried biologics like adalimumab, or tocilizumab, or rituximab?
What is your therapy for all of these condition?

@altabiznet yes. She has been allergic to all of them and ended up with sepsis and septic shock !! The infection almost finished her ! I’m hoping for that new treatment that is working on lupus

Yes, at 77 years old, I've been diagnosed with Lupus, Sjogrens and Fibromyalgia. Also, I have asthma. At age 3, I contacted polio which put in an iron-lung. I was diagnosed with post polio syndrome at age 42. Its hard to know what is causing what and the appropriate treatment. Trying to figure it out takes time, energy, wasted medically appointments and money. I find it all dramatically takes away from my quality of life.

@ddn my auto immune system has finally settled down. I tried a new treatment and it has helped so much. Low Dose Naltrexone. It is helping my body to stop overreacting to everything.

There's no doubt that steroids are a lifesaving drug, but they leave you between the rock and the hard place, and the side effects are not helpful and are permanent. But we do what we must, carefully, and make the best of it.

@rdf56 It’s frustrating with trial and error… I am on orencia infusions and I can really feel the difference immediately! Who knows: everyone is different that’s for sure. Oh and I’ve been on prednisone for 20 years: my bones show it!! I’m 76… best wishes to you

@ruralgal76- I'm glad that your Orencia is working and you're hanging in there. I've been on Estratest (estrogen and testosterone) since my hysterectomy at 40; so my bones aren't doing too badly yet- only one hip has significant osteopenia. My skin has taken a real beating though. Literally, I kind of look like an abused spouse, with constant bruising and my skin peels off if scratched which leaves a lot of scarring. Keep up with your dexa scans and be careful!

For me diagnosis of MS, since 1999;
Sjogren’s Syndrome shortly thereafter;
Within the last year, Evan’s Syndrome.

The MonSter still reins supreme.
