anyone else coughing up plugs of mucus with COPD
is there anyone in stage four of COPD coughing up mucus plugs? It is very tiring. I don't know if this is the last next to the last stage or if this is what happens.

I am not sure what a plug is . I do cough up mucus. I take Musinex 1200 morning and evening to bring it up. I drink all the water I can . I have stage 4 emphysema. It is said that one needs to cough it up . Better than not to . Blessed Be, Crystalina
Thank you HelloPam:)
I
I have had this happen when mucus is so thick it retains the shape of the bronchial tubes it was expelled from Mucinex and staying hydrated helped soften it up for me good luck
Hello...not sure if they're technically "plugs" but I cough mucus up daily. When it is greenish and has an odor it is most always another lung infection leading 100% of the time to yet another exacerbation. Try and drink lots of water, pineapple juice, Mucinex or generic of same. I also use a machine called the Airvo 2 which is a non invasive intubator. It takes all of that on the daily to keep me from choking on the nasty stuff. I'm 72 and on oxy most days 24/7 but do still manage to get out and about even trying to get at least twice weekly. Exercise is a must to prolong quality of life or just "life" for that matter. Emphysema is one nasty evil disease which in the end always wins. All we can do is try and stay positive and do the best we can in the here and now.
Meant to say go to gym at least twice weekly!
I like your approach with exercise and getting out and keeping quality of life and mucinex and water.
I am 83 and use air Physio to help cough up the phlegm. Works well for me with a lot less coughing. I use Breztri for my COPD and more satisfied with it than anything else such as Symbicort and I had an allergy to something in trelegy
I too use Breztri. Seems to work well however difficult to say by how much better due to the nature of this progressing disease.
what is air Physio?
