Anyone been to Dr Olivier or Dr Daniels at UNC?
I’m considering Dr Olivier at UNC. He’s one of only 11 “elite” status Drs in the USA according to the NTM directory. Would love any input if anyone has gone to their bronchiectasis/NTM clinic.

Thank you! Was just wondering if you’d noticed any significant difference overall.
I’m assuming my exposure is about long hot showers prior to awareness of this as well as lifelong gerd issues.
Hey!
I go to UNC. I was originally set to see Dr Daniels whos speciality is NTM and Bronchiectasis. However, due to her patient load was sent to a fellow. That did not work out so well, so I am now seeing Dr. Patel. When I saw Dr. Oliver was on board I considered switching but I reached culture conversion late last year on the anabiotic’s, so I remained with Dr. Patel. He has been very good although I think his specialty is more Bronchiectasis . He consults with Dr. Daniels on my case. But the whole facility is really good, they are pretty responsive and assign you a personal pharmacist during the anabiotic treatment for side effects, testing, guidance, etc.
I also live about three hours away from the facility, so they have been helpful in coordinating testing with my primary locally. So yes! I would recommend them, especially if you are in any close proximity.
Hope that helps!
Dee
Yes! Thank you Dee!
If I have understood correctly, MAI is usually from exposure to dirt/dust/soil, often from potting soil and peat moss. Avium is usually from exposure to water. Then there’s many other types of mycobacteria in all sorts of the environment. But once infected by one, we are at risk of getting others.
Thank you I wasn’t aware of this.
