Any side effects from present flu shot with PMR?

Posted by lindaadel @lindaadel, Oct 17, 2023

I am wondering if I should get the present flu shot as I think all these shots especially the Covid shot which I had five may have brought on the PMR I really don’t know. The bottom line am I better off not getting the flu shot we getting the flu shot I really don’t know whatever you whatever your thoughts are I’d love to hear them!!!

Last year after the flu shot I had a pretty bad flare, I guess I’ll get it again and hope for the best. I don’t get Covid shots, to many people had problems and it seemed to be nothing more than a head cold the last couple of times I’ve had it.

Had flu and Pfizer booster together a week ago. This was my fifth covid shot since they were introduced. Have never had covid (touch wood). The next morning was shaky...my pill container sounded like a castanet when I picked it up, but NO effect on PMR symptoms. By the afternoon I was good to go.

I took the flu shot but decided against another Covid shot, I was absolutely fine no side effects at all.

I had the flu shot on Friday the 13th, which felt like tempting fate. No problem whatever. I do plan to get the next covid shot.

I got the flu and Covid shots on the same day a few weeks ago. I'm currently on 6 mg Prednisone and didn't have any PMR side effects. Just the normal sore arm for a day.

I had Flu and Tetanus shots a week and a half ago. Now having a full blown PMR flare up (started a few days ago). Not sure if related but this is my worst flare since being diagnosed 12/22.

Wow thank you so much for your information! The bottom line is it’s so confusing because everybody reacts differently to different kind of shot so I don’t know what I’m gonna do thank you again!

Had RSV and flu (for seniors) vaccines 2 days ago, no side effects. I'm getting a COVID booster tomorrow, I've had strong reactions to all so far but I'll put up with it for the protection.

Your post got me thinking. I had shingles and tetanus vaccines together in January and developed PMR. I assumed it was the Zoster but maybe it was tetanus or the combination of both. I’ve recently done the flue and COVID about a month apart. No problems with COVID but was affected for three weeks after the flu shot.

Yes in hindsight I should have separated so I may have a btr idea if one or the other. I will still get vax weighing the risk of serious illness against a flare up. I will be peeved if have to start over w steriod, not going to lie. Starting w a Medrol pack (2nd one) but I am pretty sure when off it - it won't cut it. Here's to hoping!
