Any advice for Double Vision caused by having Dry Eyes?

Posted by lemans77 @lemans77, Sep 28, 2025

I have been using Xiidra for a while, it doesn't seem to do much. I have recently begun to experience double-vision because if the dry eye. I have tried many other drops, gels, heat, plugs and nothing helps. Ideas?

I've been diagnosed and/or had the following procedures. I'm 63 years old type 2 diabetic under pretty good but not total control:
1. Meibomian Gland Disease (MGD) of both eyes, upper and lower of both. Do eye washes and lubricating drops daily.
2. Anatomical narrow angle borderline glaucoma of both eyes (YAG surgery Nov 2022 of both eyes)
3. Chalazion cysts of both eyes and eyelids (removal and no return since ceasing contact lens wear)
4. Throwing in shingles of right side of face and ear areas in 2025
5. Past migraine sufferer from age 12-22 years of age--none since

So at this point, my only complaint is this vertical diplopia. I don't have any rhyme or reason for when it occurs. I check my blood sugars and they're normal. I just wake up with it. It never occurs later--like while working during the day or even at night. I wake up with it and it doesn't go away until late evening or the next day. Once it lasted 2 days then went away as suddenly as it came. I actually scheduled an apt and they found nothing... but of course it wasn't "doing it" the day I was having symptoms and the ophthalmologists don't take walk-ins. I feel like I need a brain scan or something to get to the bottom of things. Anyone with similar symptoms/issues?

@mikaylar Oh my! I'm so sorry for the toll it must be taking on you. In comparison, I'm doing great. Thanks for letting me know. Continue prayers for healing to you. Yes, the Golden Years... I'm praying 63 and beyond so go downhill.
