Anxiety continues after trying 5 different meds
I was on Celexa for 5 years and then got into trouble. I tried Lexapro, Paxil, Effexor and now on Prozac. All of the meds created side effects I could not handle. Also some especially Effexor very difficult to get off of. Many side effects when you lower the doze. Been told Effexor the worst one to stop taking. Not sure what else to take or where to go. Anyone else relate to this. Would like to hear from you. I have been told I am very sensitive to meds and do not handle them as well as most people do. Considered going cold turkey but doc so far would not recomend. Like poker every day as to my problems for the day. Some days headache, others stomach or feet. Hope someone has had the same experience

I have the same problem. The most I have been able to tolerate is 10 mg of Prozac. I was feeling so much depression and suicidal thoughts though so I weened off that and topamax at the same time which was kinda dumb. So it’s been 6 weeks and I’m not depressed or suicidal thinking but the panic attacks and anxiety are through the roof. Seeing doc next week. Can’t even deal with this at all.
Weaning off Effexor, and concerned the panic attacks will return, I am 76, and do not understand why psychiatrists will not consider age when recommending doses. I have tried so many meds and the side effects are difficult.
I have both vestibular migraines and anxiety. I have been so drug resistant to all ADs that my psych is considering Lyrica. An anticonvulsant like Topamax. Why did you wean off Topomax? For migraine prevention they frequently use Topomax, but my psych does not like it.
One thing my son's doctor did, which was very helpful for us, was to order a test from Gene Sight. It looks at multiple drug categories (such as antidepressants, anxiolytics and hypnotics, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, stimulants/non-stimulants) and the known genes they interact with. It separates the drugs into 3 categories based on your gene interaction and tells you which ones are good, which you may moderately interact with, and which drugs you will have a significant gene reaction to. Their website is http://www.genesight.com if anyone wants to look further into this testing. Good luck!
